Randy has led more than 100 multi-million-dollar insurance agency acquisitions, first in private practice and later as lead in-house M&A counsel for Risk Strategies, one of the nation’s largest privately held brokerages. This dual perspective gives him a practical advantage—he knows what business leaders prioritize when deploying significant capital, how to resolve meaningful diligence issues, where deals break down, and what drives successful acquisitions and sustainable growth. Business leaders rely on Randy to manage complex transactions with disciplined risk management and a clear understanding of brokerage operations. Randy prides himself on providing practical business and legal advice.
Randy focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions within the insurance brokerage space, representing both buy-side and sell-side. This focus was first honed in private practice and subsequently further developed as lead in-house M&A counsel for Risk Strategies, where he oversaw all legal aspects of the company’s acquisition activity. Randy has extensive experience across the full spectrum of insurance brokerage transactions, including traditional retail agency acquisitions, lift-outs from banks and other brokerages, and acquisitions of MGAs/MGUs, risk purchasing groups, third-party administrators, wholesalers, and reinsurance brokers and intermediaries.
In addition to insurance, Randy has led M&A transactions across the veterinary, dental, and HVAC sectors. His broader practice includes extensive experience in helping businesses navigate day-to-day legal and business issues, commercial contracting, corporate governance, commercial lending and secured transactions, real estate leasing, and succession planning.
Outside of his legal practice, Randy enjoys spending time with his family—his wife, Megan, their son, Miles, and their animals, including a horse, two Australian Shepherds, and cats. When he’s not coaching his son’s soccer team or golfing, Randy can usually be found tending the pastures and fences of his farmette.
